Home / About

Small, and deliberately so.

JTS Agency is the working name of João David Silva, literary agent, and the lawyer Tsuriel Sdomi. Two people, one address, and every stage of a book's journey handled in the same place.

My name is David Silva. I receive manuscripts from authors around the world, with my main working languages being English, Portuguese and Italian. I work with authors and publishers who want their books to travel further than the language in which they were first written or published.

Tsuriel Sdomi is also part of the agency. A lawyer, artist and musician, he brings a perspective shaped by literature, the arts, music and the legal side of creative work.

Most agencies handle one part of the journey. Here, the whole route lives under one roof: the edit, the pitch, submissions to publishers, rights outreach territory by territory, meetings at Frankfurt, Bologna and London, press campaigns, and approaches to producers for screen and stage.

Every manuscript is read by me. Every pitch is written rather than templated. And I say no when I do not believe I can do anything genuinely useful with a book.

  1. You write to me

A submission for representation, or an enquiry about editorial or publicity work. Both are read by me.

  2. I read and reply

Submissions get an answer within eight weeks. Service enquiries get a written proposal within five working days.

  3. It goes in writing

An agency agreement, or a service agreement with deliverables and dates. Nothing starts on a handshake.

  4. The work happens

Submission and pitching, the edit, the press kit, the campaign. You are told what is happening as it happens.

  5. I account for it

Deals negotiated, royalties checked, coverage reported. Money received for an author is held separately and passed on in full, less the agreed commission.

Fairs, desks, proofs and post.
